Buying off-the-plan no longer means conforming to uniform apartment designs or aesthetics. New developments increasingly provide buyers with options for flexible floor-plans, plenty of space and customisable interiors. With more opportunity for creativity when buying off-the-plan, it’s no wonder that these celebrities have chosen this option.

The Carlisle offers the ultimate luxury lifestyle.

In 2020, Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin and his wife Jesinta sold their sunny Rose Bay home for close to $4 million and bought a nearby off-the-plan apartment for about $5 million. The apartment they bought is believed to be located in The Carlisle development, also in Rose Bay, New South Wales.

This boutique development combines resort-style living with decadent design in an enviable harbour side location. The development was designed by MHND union, who are an acclaimed group of Sydney Architects. These luxurious apartments are flooded with natural light and provide a seamless transition between the outside and inside.

Former Real Housewife of Melbourne Chyka Keebaugh and her husband Bruce combined two off-the-the-plan apartments and reimagined the floor plan to suit their own unique style.

The penthouse apartment, located in Melbourne, has been customised to include fewer bedrooms than originally planned. This has allowed for more entertaining space, including a 35 metre long terrace. As co-founders of hospitality company The Big Group, entertaining is something both Chyka and Bruce are well-versed in.

Whilst designing the apartment, Chyka reimagined all the interiors including the sinks, joinery, taps and handles. Bruce collaborated with MAArchitects, who designed the building, to remove many of the internal walls originally included in the design of the penthouse. Glass French doors were implemented throughout to create open spaces that are visible, but can also be closed off if necessary.

After being crowned Miss Universe back in 2004, Jennifer Hawkins entered the property market in 2006 with a double story home in Merewether, Newcastle. Soon after, she purchased a two-bedroom off-the-plan apartment in Bondi for $895,000. Purchased in 2007, Jennifer lived in this apartment for several years, before selling it in 2014 for $1.2 million.
