Creating Bathroom Space

There are a number of ways to create the feeling of a bigger bathroom.

Most importantly, the number one rule in any room of your house or apartment is to maximise the floor space. In a bathroom, this can be done in the following ways:

  • Install a wall hung toilet with a recessed cistern.
  • Have a wall mounted vanity rather than a vanity that goes to the floor.
  • Install frameless glass shower screens.
  • Use a freestanding bath rather than a bath that has been built to the wall.

If all of these things are taken into account it will dramatically increase your floor space. It is important to remember that the more floor space you see, the bigger the area feels. Also, another handy hints is to use large format wall tiles. 300x600mm and 600x600mm are common these days, however, there are new tile products on the market that are bigger than this.

The less grout lines you see on a wall the more simple it is, which creates a calmer and more open style of bathroom. Another tip is to use wall mounted basins and to put your storage in the cabinets above, by doing this it will dramatically open the bathroom area. Finally, the use of mirrored walls is always a simply and cost effective way to open up your bathroom.
