If you’re thinking of buying off-the-plan, you’re in good company, with one of the biggest Hollywood stars doing exactly that.
It was recently reported that George Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney purchased a new apartment in New York off-the-plan. With a considerable portfolio of properties to their name already, the Clooneys are set to add another luxurious apartment, in one of New York’s latest residential towers, One Hundred East Fifty-Third Street.
Located in Manhattan’s Mid-Town, the apartment building has been designed by internationally-renowned architects, Foster + Partners. Responsible for a swag of high-profile buildings such as HSBC Tower, London; One Central Park, Sydney; New York’s Hearst Tower; and London’s iconic ‘Gherkin’ headquarters for insurance firm Swiss Re, Foster + Partners has been adding their buildings to the world’s skylines since 1967.
Featuring an innovative concertina-shaped outer facade, the building boasts a number of top-drawer amenities which the Clooneys can enjoy. One of the most talk-about has been an on-site, two-story restaurant and gourmet marketplace helmed by Joël Robuchon, the world’s most Michelin-starred chef (24 stars in total).
Residential concierge services include a dedicated lifestyle manager, global travel arrangement and personalised shopping services.
The fitness and wellness amenities are impressive too, and feature a 60-foot swimming pool, cardio room, ballet/pilates room, sauna, spa treatment rooms and a steam room – and all of these come with expert practitioners to help residents manage their fitness and wellbeing goals.
There are also a number of residential lounges and a beautifully design library and cinema — imagine residents watching a Clooney movie and he walks in… Ok, highly unlikely.
The building is due to be completed later this year, with prices ranging from around US$2.6million.
