Feature lighting to make your apartment shine

Lighting is not just about illuminating a room or your home after dark. Lighting in any home needs to be layered with different types of light to create ambience. These lights are useful individually on their own, but they also need to layer well with the other lighting sources in the same space. 

Feature lighting comes in different forms. You can have lights that highlight an artwork or sculpture in your home. Then there’s feature lighting that helps create a beautiful design or shadow play that’s projected onto the wall thanks to the style and construction of the light source.

Feature lighting is a wonderful way to create a focal point in any room of the home without adding clutter or bulk to the space. From apartments to townhouses, feature lighting always has an important part to play in your home’s overall lighting decor.

Here are a few ideas on how to use featuring lighting around your apartment or townhome. 

Dining

Hang pendant lights over your dining table. Position them so that they hang slightly lower than usual to create the ideal focal point in the space. 

Bedroom

Use medium-sized pendant lights on either side of your bed to create an interesting feature in the bedroom. 

Transitional spaces

For entryways and hallways, a central light fixture like a crystal chandelier or cluster lights really can't be beaten for transforming transitional spaces into feature spaces.
