Plants are perfect for almost any home.

They provide some distinct health benefits, and can also make your home look, feel and smell fresh and clean, so what do you need to know about putting some green in your apartment?

Placement

The placement of any living plant in your home is imperative to both the longevity of it, and its growth. Much like us humans, plants too need some of that vitamin D, and where better to get it than the sun. Before you decide on which plants to put in your home, and where you are going to put them - do some research in your own home. Find out what areas in your home receive sunlight and how long they are exposed to it! The varying level of light will provide a guide as to what plants will be appropriate for your home.

Lifestyle and Taste

Now that you know where your plants are going to be in the house. Plants vary in design, in feel, and in scent - so it is imperative that they suit what you need. Flowering plants generally require a little more sunlight than leaf based plants - so it all varies on the plant you want - and should be discussed with the florist you buy it off. Plants are understated and can offer some beautiful colour to a room, and for a very reasonable price.

Health

It is scientifically proven that plants are an indoor-pollutant fighter. Indoor can, in some areas, be 12 times more polluted than some areas outside due to compounds in paints, furnishings, clothing, shoes and building materials.

NASA, yes the space aeronautics company, recently found that house-plants can remove up to 87% of air toxins within a 24 hour period - and whilst they haven’t tested all house-hold plants, it was Dragon Tree, Ivy, Ficus, Philodendrons, Spider Plants, Peace Lillies, Ferns, Chrysantheums, Palms, and the rubber plant that were seemingly the strongest when it came to absorbing air toxins.

Plants have an outstanding cognitive and psychological realm as well, making those surrounded by plants happier, calmer, less stressed and more in control.

When choosing plants for your home, make sure that one it is a plant that will able to deal with your lifestyle, your enthusiasm and your environment.
