As land in Brisbane’s blue chip suburb of New Farm is becoming increasingly scarce, renowned Brisbane-based property developer Graya has astutely catered to the demand for boutique, single-floor apartments in the locale with their newest residential project, York.

Launching next month, the Bowen Terrace address will comprise an exclusive collection of just five house-like residences across five levels inspired by New Farm’s vibrant Art Deco heritage. With an elevated riverside setting, each home will capture sweeping views from Teneriffe Hill and the Brisbane River to Kangaroo Point and the Brisbane CBD.

“As New Farm locals ourselves, it was very important to us to follow what is a key part of the suburb’s fabric and heritage while creating a contemporary expression of Art Deco that reflects the way we live today,” explained Rob Gray, Managing Director of Graya.

“This styling runs throughout the project and can be seen in the precast concrete panels and the interior detailing, which is inspired by the rich natural stone, fluted glass, and warm timber found in Manhattan’s Art Deco-style apartments.”

York is the luxury developer’s third New Farm development, following Chalk – currently under construction on Moray Street – and their multi-award-winning Maison project which was awarded ‘Development of the Year (Small Scale Residential)’ at this year’s The Urban Developer Awards.

Evidently, Graya’s love affair with New Farm shows no signs of slowing.

“New Farm is all about location and lifestyle,” Mr Gray said.

“There’s no better place in Brisbane.

“You have the river, the wharves, the park, the shops, the restaurants, and bars.

“Homes in the suburb are tightly held, so with York, we’ve set about creating ‘sky homes’ for  downsizers or young professionals who don’t want the maintenance of owning their own house but still want the amenity of New Farm and the added security apartment living provides.”

Elevating this coveted New Farm lifestyle, York will be crowned by a resort-style rooftop amenity. Residents will have exclusive access to a striking infinity pool, lavish lounge beds, and fully equipped dining areas, all surrounded by meticulously landscaped foliage. This space will also overlook stunning river and city vistas.

Graya’s high calibre design and build approach have continued from high-end homes to high-end residential apartments when the team decided to broaden their focus in 2019. Mr Gray said this evolution from houses to apartments had been a natural progression. The team now boasts a development pipeline totalling $200 million.

“The quality of our projects hasn’t changed, we’ve just slowly increased the size and scale,” he said.

“Often, there is a disconnect between owners, architects, and builders that can cause major issues through the life of a project.

“Our integrated design, development, and construction service means we are all working on the same team, striving for the best outcome.

“We have been able to provide certainty around construction timeframes and offer an element of  customisation as part of our sales process.”

York will be formally launched to the market in October 2023. This will be Graya’s second collaboration with leading architecture studio bureau^proberts, who consulted on the design of its sold-out Canvas project currently under construction in Bulimba.
