Construction has officially begun on Habitat Development Group’s latest Sunshine Coast residential project. The $220 million St Clair features an eight-level, 200-unit apartment complex located on the last east-facing waterfront site on Birtinya Island.

Habitat Development Group Managing Director, Cleighton Clark said, “We are thrilled to be commencing construction of this landmark project in Birtinya.

“The past few years have been difficult for the development and construction industry, but we are beginning to see pricing on building materials stabilise, and thanks to our strong track record on the coast, we have a great pool of local subcontractors who will help us make this project a reality.”

The residential development will sit on an 8,976 sqm site on Waterside Retreat facing Lake Kawana. It will comprise 200 two, three and four-bedroom dwellings spread across eight levels, topped by a generously proportioned rooftop terrace on level nine boasting stunning ocean, lake, and hinterland views.

According to Clark, the apartment complex is poised to “ease the current housing crisis” in the area, taking advantage of an all-time low in rental vacancies and a lack of residential projects underway.

The project will support the local construction sector, employing between 350 to 400 workers during the construction phase. Architecturally, the building is designed to maximise the benefits of its prime waterfront location, providing ocean views across Lake Kawana and hinterland vistas.

St Clair residents will enjoy resort-style facilities that Clark claims are “unmatched on the Sunshine Coast.”

These amenities comprise a 25-metre resort-style pool, BBQ pavilion with fire pit, exclusive residents’ dining room with chef’s kitchen and private outdoor entertaining terrace, sprawling 1,000 sqm private parkland with exclusive access to the Lake Kawana esplanade, a rooftop terrace on level 9, and professional on-site management, among other features.

Birtinya is considered a property hotspot due to its excellent proximity to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the Stockland Birtinya shopping centre, which features a flagship Coles, ALDI Supermarket, dining and entertainment options, and approximately 40 specialty retailers. Moreover, the forthcoming transformation of the former NightQuarter precinct into a family-friendly entertainment precinct, The Station, is cause for excitement.

“We are also very pleased to hear that the former NightQuarter precinct at Birtinya is set to be revitalised into a family-friendly entertainment precinct under a new name, The Station,” said Mr Clark.

“It’s an exciting addition to the local entertainment industry.”
