Verdant parklands and an abundance of urban amenities create a wonderfully welcome environment for locals at McKinnon. The charming, village lifestyle positioned ideally between bustling Bentleigh, Brighton and Orsmond is home to DealCorp’s latest offering - MCKN.

Miranda, who has just secured an apartment at the heart of McKinnon spoke to us about why she decided to call MCKN home.

Miranda explains that a well-connected locale was the key factor when selecting an off-the-plan apartment, “I had my eye on McKinnon from the very beginning but thought I would be priced out - especially with the school zone and the market heating up. Given COVID, it was super important for me to be at the heart of it.” With a cafe below, a convenience store opposite and Hotel McKinnon across the road, MCKN offers its residents every amenity at their doorstep. Residents will be moments away from indulging in all the local delights with an abundance of options for retail, food and leisure to quickly fill up weekends. McKinnon train station is located only five minutes from the development, putting residents within a short 10 minutes of Melbourne city centre - another factor that was very important to Miranda when purchasing her new home.

From the streetscape, MCKN’s facade showcases a bold and textured surface of fluted concrete panels - immediately adding textural intrigue to the neighbourhood and offering a new and contemporary interpretation of a traditional home. “I absolutely love the fluted concrete panelling on the exterior. It’s unique, eye-catching and will age gracefully,” comments Miranda.

While unique in its own rights, MCKN also pays homage to the functional design of the neighbouring architecture. Fitting in seamlessly with its surroundings, both the facade and the interior design ensures the new development firmly makes its mark on McKinnon’s evolving architectural language.

Inside, multi-award-winning architectural firm Ritz & Ghougassian presents a home designed to elevate the day-to-day living experience. Each apartment has meticulous attention to detail. “The internal light well is also a stand out feature,” says Miranda. Daylight enters through the building’s central light well to offer a soothing ambience to the homes. Additionally, floor to ceiling, double glazed windows transform into walls of spectacular light - bathing every surface in blissful warmth throughout the day.

We asked Miranda about her experience buying off-the-plan; “I was originally opposed to buying off-the-plan but tried to keep an open mind. Heath Thompson, from Buxton Projects, took the time to answer all of my questions - I had a long list - so I was able to get a real feel for what I was buying.”

“The display suite showed me the kitchen and bathroom I would be getting and the rest I could really imagine. I also inspected a previous DealCorp and Hamilton Marino build and was convinced by the quality I saw,” continues Miranda.

“I wouldn’t think twice about buying off-the-plan again! It’s really a great way to get exactly what you’re looking for without the stress of an auction or the competition.”
