Following a multimillion dollar gut renovation, Steve Gold is selling his SoHo penthouse with a listing price of $9.95 million, which is an eye-watering $13.9 million in Australian dollars. As one of the star luxury real estate brokers on Bravo’s ‘Million Dollar Listing New York’, Steve Gold has designed this SoHo loft to exude opulence.

When Gold originally purchased the penthouse from Sean Kelly in 2019, it needed a lot of work. In an off-market deal, Gold paid $4.5 million for the SoHo loft and spent another $2.5 million on a gut renovation that stripped the penthouse down to its “original brick and beams”. Gold changed everything about the apartment, including the finishes and floorplans.

Whilst completing renovations on his fifth-story apartment, Gold’s intention was to live there with his partner Luiza Gawlowska and their daughter Rose. “I thought this would be the place where I would raise my family”, Gold has said. He continued to say that “three years later, I realised that what I really wanted right now was to be closer to my family”. The Gold Group NYC founder intends to live in his hometown of Connecticut with his family, and commute to New York City for work.

Because it was intended to be a family home, Gold’s penthouse has had an enormous amount of thought and care placed in every detail.

The apartment is located in The Wooster Street building in SoHo, which was erected in the 1920s and houses 13 units. Gold has kept some of the original prewar details in the apartment’s design, including exposed pipes, beams and columns as well as window archways. The floors were replaced with wide oak planks from Dinesen of Denmark.

This exclusive fifth-floor penthouse features a key-locked elevator where residents can enter the residence. After walking through a foyer, residents will find dining and lounging space, as well as an open plan kitchen. The kitchen is one of two in the apartment, and is complete with a large island, custom millwork and countertops made from Italian Calacatta Paonazzo marble.

Just next to this, residents will find an all-important home office, including a built-in desk and Dinesen wood shelving. The second kitchen is accessible from the main living space and a back hall corridor, and features a large pantry. Near this, there is also a laundry room.

The main suite features two extra-large walk-in closets as well as a spacious bathroom with a claw-foot soaking tub, grey marble and brushed bronze finishes. The loft-style penthouse is also flooded with natural light throughout, as it has 14 brand new windows in addition to five skylights.

Gold’s SoHo penthouse is the perfect example of the kind of luxury that is possible with apartment living. With expertly crafted, considered finishes and use of space, this luxury penthouse is sure to excite Million Dollar Listing fans and New York real estate enthusiasts alike.
