Buildcorp Foundation has declared its ongoing commitment to the annual Giving Day by Lifeline Australia, set to take place on Wednesday, 13 March 2024. The event will draw attention and rally support for Lifeline's digital support platforms.
Embracing this year's theme "Help at Hand," will match every dollar donated to Lifeline on the day, up to a total of $250,000, with the ambition of hitting the $2 million mark in donations made to Lifeline since 2015.
Buildcorp Foundation's chair and principal Josephine Sukkar AM expressed the need for more awareness and resources in battling mental health issues, particularly among young males involved in the construction industry.
“Statistics tell us that young men working on a construction site are at twice the risk of taking their own lives than those working elsewhere in the community," Ms Sukka said.
"The Buildcorp Foundation is honoured to partner with Lifeline for their Giving Day for the next three years."
In a show of support for Lifelines Giving Day, over a dozen Buildcorp construction sites and three head offices across Australia, will host team BBQs, encouraging discussions around mental health and highlighting the importance of seeking help.
With suicide being the main cause of death for Australians aged between 15 - 44, both Lifeline and Buildcorp are encouraging conversations surrounding mental health and the importance of reaching out when in need.
“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of the Buildcorp Foundation as this year’s Principal Partner for Lifeline’s annual Giving Day on Wednesday 13 March,” said Lifeline Australia CEO Colin Seery.
