Construction is now officially underway on Callista on Park, the final residential building in Sekisui House Australia’s decade-long transformation of West End’s historic Peters Ice Cream Factory site into the award-winning West Village community.

With completion anticipated for mid-2027, this milestone sets the stage for the full realisation of the precinct’s masterplan, one that has already reshaped inner-city living in Brisbane.

As the eighth and final tower, Callista on Park will complete a vision that has been steadily unfolding since 2015. The result will be almost 1,000 new homes, extensive green spaces, a thriving retail and dining precinct, and a neighbourhood now celebrated nationwide for design, sustainability, and community-building.

With the last remaining residences selling, you can be part of it all.

A precinct built on heritage, craftsmanship, and long-term partnership

Hutchinson Builders, who have delivered every stage of West Village, will once again lead construction. The moment holds particular significance for Chairman Scott Hutchinson, who reflects on the company’s near century-long connection to West End.

“Hutchies has actually been part of West End since the 1920s when we had our original yard on Montague Road,” he said.

“We’ve also had a long history with the site, having worked on the original Peters ice cream building in 1943, and since 2015, we’ve built every stage of the new West Village precinct, including the refurbishment of the ice cream factory.

“It’s a bit surreal to be starting this final stage.

“The whole Hutchies team is very proud to have played a part in such an iconic mixed-use precinct that is close to our hearts.”

For Sekisui House Australia, the start of construction represents both a culmination and a continuation.

“We are proud to extend our trusted 10-year partnership with Hutchinson Builders to complete this visionary community, cementing West Village as one of Brisbane’s most celebrated urban renewal projects,” said West Village’s project director, Taku Hashimoto.

As Taku puts it, “There will never be another opportunity like it at West Village.”
