Brookfield Multiplex has added another new apartment tower to Melbourne's city skyline with the recent completion of “Tower 4” the third stage of Far East Consortium's Upper West Side in Melbourne's CBD.

Prominently located on a corner site Upper West Side is bound by Little Bourke Street, Lonsdale Street, Spencer Street and Rose Alley. Almost half a city block in size, it is one of the largest residential construction projects currently being undertaken in Melbourne.

Once complete, it will comprise four residential towers with a combined total of just over 2,200 apartments, the largest roof garden in the Southern Hemisphere, a retail arcade joining all four towers with 34 retail tenancies and will also add two new laneways to the city. Other amenities for Upper West Side residents will include two swimming pools, gyms and a function room.

The recently completed 30 level Stage Three will provide a total of 282 apartments above a podium comprising retail space and parking for 67 vehicles.

Works are now underway to deliver the final stage of the development," said Mr Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Brookfield Multiplex Victoria.

Designed by Cottee Parker Architects, the facade is constructed as a moving artwork with its appearance changing to reflect the surrounding environment.

Construction works are being closely coordinated with surrounding buildings and adjoining occupied apartment towers.

Construction of the final stage, a 53 level tower with 641 apartments, is currently underway with completion expected in the second half of 2016.

Brookfield Multiplex has completed a number of residential projects over the past two years including The Quays $180 million tower on the corner of Docklands and the Harbour Esplanade, Stage Two of the Upper West Side Apartments valued at $150 million and most recently the $300 million Prima Tower in Queensbridge Street, Southbank. It has over $800 million worth of projects underway in Melbourne with residential towers including Platinum Tower in Southbank along with Australis, Bella Apartments, Melbourne One and Southbank Grand.
