The prestigious New Charsfield by premier architects Rothelowman is designed to offer residents the amenity of a luxury hotel in beautifully designed residential surrounds.

Every design detail in New Charsfield references the luxurious style of living of the mansion’s former occupants. Residents are invited to indulge in the building’s concierge services, available full time to arrange transportation, event planning, appointment bookings, postal arrangements and grocery shopping. All these services and more can be arranged at the touch of a button.

To complement this luxurious experience, the architecture of New Charsfield takes its inspiration from the heritage listed and iconic Victorian-era mansion, built in 1889 and designed by renowned Melbourne architect Charles Webb (1821–1898). The mansion has served as the four-star rated Hotel Charsfield after extensive renovations in 2000. The mansion will remain on the site in the new development, and is placed at the forefront of the site both physically and metaphorically.

Rothelowman has been careful to preserve the grand composition and fine detailing influences of the old Hotel Charsfield in their design approach. The built form and history of the mansion serves as the inspiration for the new 145 residential apartments and 104 serviced apartments that will be inserted directly behind the heritage building.

“Charsfield mansion is significant for its well-composed Italianate form and its connection to this location’s long history as a distinguished residential area,” says ROTHELOWMAN principal Stuart Marsland.

“Maintaining the lasting effect of this project has been integral to the design process, as this will be complementing the oldest surviving structure in St Kilda Road.”

Rothelowman has created a distinctive façade of curved cream coloured solid bands on the new building, reminiscent of the original mansion.

Perfectly positioned on St Kilda Road, all apartments will feature private balconies to extend the living space and take advantage of the superb outlook, the nearby expansive green spaces of Fawkner Park and Albert Park, with cosmopolitan South Yarra just a stone’s throw away.

The beautiful gardens of New Charsfield featured finely manicured hedges, offering residents a peaceful setting to step outside and relax.

The apartments also feature a mixture of typologies, designed to cater to residents at different stages of life.

“There is choice of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments to cater to a broad market of investors, owner-occupiers, first homebuyers and empty nesters wishing to downsize,” says EBG Marketing Manager Heather Christotodou.

New Charsfield’s one-bedroom apartments are priced from $392,500. Two-bedroom apartments start at $590,000, and three-bedroom apartments are priced from $1.27 million.

Construction will commence on the New Charsfield in early 2016.
