Pace Developments are producing another luxury apartment project in St Kilda.
Located at 18 Grey St, St Kilda, the development , named Ode, holds only 34 boutique apartments across a nine (ground plus eight) building.
Ode’s innovative design embraces the aesthetic of its surrounds and the constantly evolving story of St Kilda itself. Local artist, Matthew Johnson has transformed the building’s heritage façade into a canvas inspired by the untold secrets of St Kilda’s past, and archived letters of hope and love preserved in local libraries. It’s a tribute to the feelings of the foreshore. A living love letter threaded through the generations.
Michael Holah, the architect at Pace Developments, said “Grey Street has a long, rich heritage and it’s always a hive of activity, with lots of nightlife and interesting characters – Ode Apartments reflect the character of the street, and brings something new.”
What stands out the most about Ode is its ‘green’ sky atrium located in the middle of the building. This features an artistic and carefully positioned mix of organic textures and reflective surfaces to channel warm natural sunlight into the building as well as the apartments which open onto the internal light well.

The fresh green foliage of the hanging gardens, inspire a cool valley atmosphere inside the building. This is created not only by the greenery, but also by a pond at the base of the atrium which creates a natural mirror to reflect shifting patterns of sunlight throughout the space.
The layered glazing of balconies and straight lines of the building contrast beautifully with its flowing light and hanging leaves. The result is a stunning space that can be enjoyed from the comfort of a private balcony and serves to welcome and farewell residents every day.
