Property developer Sarazin, in collaboration with Hutchinson Builders, has celebrated the official sod-turning ceremony for the highly anticipated Murcia Residences project in East Brisbane. This milestone event marks the commencement of construction for this new mixed-use residential community.

Local officials, media representatives and community members were invited to attend and celebrate this significant step forward.

Murcia Residences, located in the heart of the rapidly transforming Gabba precinct, aims to deliver a unique living experience with its innovative Mediterranean inspired design and green star sustainable initiatives.

The mixed-use development features 210 apartments, comprising one, two and three bedroom units, together with a 700sqm office tenancy on the second floor and 300sqm retail on the ground floor.

Residents will enjoy unrivalled rooftop amenities including a heated infinity pool, cold & warm magnesium plunge pools, spa, sauna, bookable private dining room, work-from-home spaces, fully equipped gym and various outdoor alfresco BBQ areas.

A public art gallery located on the ground floor builds on Sarazin’s already substantial contribution to the arts in Brisbane, complementing its groundbreaking STEAMM Studios (STEM + Art and Music) at Woolloongabba and Sarazin’s major sponsorship of the Griffith University Art Museum at South Brisbane.

Strategically located and in close proximity to the soon to be operational Woolloongabba Cross River Rail station, residents and workers at Murcia will enjoy unequalled connectivity to train, bus and tram services, with easy access to north and south arterial freeways.

With panoramic views of the Brisbane city skyline, and within easy walking distance to the Logan Rd and South City Square dining precincts, Murcia Residences is set to become a landmark Brisbane building, reflecting the evolution of city in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games.

Sarazin founder and director Darren Dougan said, “Murcia’s architecturally ambitious design is set to become the gold standard for urban regeneration in the area.

"And in the midst of a housing crisis, Murcia will provide much needed additional supply to the Brisbane market, offering varied housing options to the community, from the solo urbanite to downsizers to young families.”

Hutchinson Builders Chairman Scott Hutchinson added, “We are delighted to be partnering with Sarazin on this project.

"We have been impressed by Sarazin’s attention to detail and professional business ethos, and we look forward to working with the Sarazin team to deliver an exceptional residential development.”

Murcia adds to Sarazin’s other developments in Woolloongabba, including Silk One, Silk Lane, Nuage and Hampton Yards.
