TimeOut recently published its 2025 list of the ‘world’s 20 best cities for culture right now.’
None other than our very own Sydney took fifth place, neighboured by Mexico City in fourth and Barcelona in sixth place.
It’s easy to see why: the Emerald City is not only beautiful, with its world-renowned harbour, pristine beaches, and national parks; but it also boasts a rich arts and culture scene. Locals named celebrations such as the Sydney Film Festival, Sydney Mardi Gras, and Sydney Fringe as stand-outs. Events held by the iconic Sydney Opera House and Art Gallery of NSW also make up the city’s vibrant scene, as well as those held in indie venues like the Enmore Theatre.
Ranking fifth in the world is no easy feat. Plus, even though Paris took the list’s top spot, Time Out’s panel of experts tied Sydney and Paris for their favourite! Ooh la la!

With Sydney deservedly under a spotlight, its property offerings shine, too.
Apartment living in the city has become more and more popular in recent years, rising 23.9% from 2001 to 2021 according to the 2021 census.
What’s more, Sydney was home to nearly half (45%) of Australia’s apartment dwellers, with roughly one-third of Australia’s total apartment stock located in the city.
Here are some of today’s premier apartment choices in Sydney…
Sydney House: 194-204 Pitt Street, Sydney
It’s all in the name at Sydney House, nestled within one of the city’s most iconic developments.

Say hello to Pyrmont Place – a $900 million residential development that is also the first residential project in the Blackwattle Bay precinct’s regeneration.
This historic project is the result of years of careful planning, set to revitalise the former City of Sydney Council depot site at 14-26 Wattle Street, marking a significant milestone in the NSW Government’s vision to reshape this iconic harbourfront into a thriving urban hub.
It’s a well-connected address, with the new Pyrmont Metro station set to open nearby in 2030 and boasting close proximity to the Sydney Fish Market, Darling Harbour, and the CBD. 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom apartment are selling.
