Property developers are taking notice of Australia’s fastest growing sport and hopeful Brisbane 2032 Olympic inclusion, with the first proposal in Queensland to incorporate the loved sport into a common area of an inner-city multi-level residential community.
A prominent high-rise development underway in Spring Hill, with a premium location a stone’s throw away from the Olympics’ aquatics centre and new stadium, has identified the value of pickleball as part of their offering to entice purchasers.
Oria is an inner-city community atop of Spring Hill providing 360-degree views from Mt Coo-tha across Brisbane’s CBD skyline and future 2032 Games Victoria Park precinct with the utmost in apartment living and second to none amenities.

Keylin managing director, Louis Cheung, said Oria would not only provide front row seats for purchasers to the Games from its coveted elevated Gregory Terrace position but the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of playing Australia’s fastest growing all ages sport.
“Oria’s premium location overlooking Victoria Park, has seen its status soar after the Queensland Government announced the Victoria Park precinct as the location for the stadium for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Mr Cheung said.
“Spring Hill is an incredible location of our art-deco inspired residential community Oria, and a location I’ve had a long connection with dating back to my school years.
“There’s no questioning that Oria sits at a distinguished address and its 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom apartments set new standards in modern inner-city living.
“However, with its vicinity to the Olympic venues in mind, I wanted to add something additional and unique to further set Oria apart and my team’s love for pickleball was top of mind.
“Pickleball is the perfect inclusion to in an inner-city development as it’s enjoyed by people of all ages. It helps create a social connection between residents and build a community.
“Having a pickleball court at Oria, and I believe the first multi-level development in Queensland to deliver a proposed court, compliments the premium rooftop amenities including a pool, sauna and steam room, games area, yoga studio, gym, cinema and private dining spaces enhancing our offering to our new residents that will call Oria home from 2027.

Pickleball Association of Queensland president Adrian Gray says that he is delighted to see a private developer taking notice of pickleball as its popularity is outstripping available courts.
“The love of Pickleball has seen a sharp increase in the last 5 years and particularly in Queensland which has seen it grow in popularity across the state,” Adrian said.
“I’m not surprised residential developments have seen the value of pickleball as part of their active space offerings as it brings people together creating community around an enjoyable and engaging activity that is accessible to a broad range of people no matter their fitness level and age.
“Pickleball is a fun paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis and is a genuine fit for inner-city developments with its more suitable smaller courts.
“With its ever growing popularly, we are lobbying to have pickleball included in the 2032 Games.”

In a demonstration of Oria Spring Hill’s green credentials, the development has just been awarded a rare six leaves under the Urban Development Institute of Australia's (UDIA) EnviroDevelopment certification for sustainability measures in ecosystems, waste, energy, water, community and materials used.
