UK-based design studio and development group, Banda, are embarking on a joint venture with Australian businessman Rory O’Brien to deliver the stunning Masthead Ocean Club residential building in Main Beach.

The $250 million Masthead Ocean Club will be unlike anything the Gold Coast has seen before. Residents will have exclusive access to a 7-Star suite of onsite resort-driven amenities with strong global appeal.

The development boasts prime positioning at the coveted northern end of Main Beach, with the Southport Yacht Club, Main Beach Surf Club, and Spit parklands just a stone’s throw away. Each Masthead residence will capture sweeping, protected views of the Pacific Ocean, Broadwater, and the Hinterland.

“This northern end of Main Beach is an incredible proposition. It has the beach and Broadwater on the doorstep but is also adjacent to 140 hectares of Spit parkland, which for me is reminiscent of the open space of Hyde Park in London and this really resonated. We're absolutely thrilled to be designing and creating in Australia," says Mr Mozzi.

“We have carefully exploited the unique east west axis so owners can see the sunrise over the pacific and set over the mountains of the Hinterland. These views are preserved in perpetuity and will never be built out,” says Mr O’Brien.

The Masthead residences will be a boutique collection of 28 whole-floor apartments in total. One penthouse, two sub penthouses, and five Sky Homes are to feature in this collection.

Each whole floor apartment will span 317 sqm of luxury private living and include private and direct lift access. The two sub penthouses will each be 634 sqm. The grand penthouse will boast over 1000 sqm and have its own private pool, gym, and golf putting green.

No other address in Australia provides residents with such uncompromising luxury and global appeal, with onsite amenities shared amongst a concentrated cohort of only 28 owners.

Ocean Club will provide premium onsite facilities, including an elegant wine and champagne lounge, a whiskey and cigar room, a coffee bar, and a sky-high library, all only accessible to Masthead residents. In addition to a health & wellness club with a wet edge pool, spa, steam room and sauna, a state-of-the-art gym and a yoga and Pilates studios will also feature onsite for private residential use.

Ocean Club members will also secure Chairman’s Club membership to Levantine Hill Winery in The Yarra Valley, gain participation in Newgate’s 2023 racing syndicate, and receive a complimentary, brand-new BMW Electric Vehicle upon purchasing their Masthead residence.

“This isn’t your average luxury beachfront development – the planning code has now changed so there will be nothing quite like it in the future. Masthead Ocean Club will be in a class of its own, dedicated to servicing the unique lifestyle demands of the world’s most discerning residents,’ shares Mr O’Brien.

Edo Mapelli Mozzi, the husband of Princess Beatrice, founded Banda in 2007. Banda has since grown from a niche London developer to an industry-leading global design practice, revered for crafting environments that are intrinsically beautiful and faultlessly functional.

Rory O’Brien has developed several luxury developments over the last 30 years in luxury locations, including Sydney, Los Angeles, and the Whitsundays.

Masthead Ocean Club has all approvals in place. Construction is set to commence in the coming months, with build completion expected in 2024.
