There's nothing quite as luxurious as waking up to the sound of crashing waves and the crisp Queensland sunrise. With amazing views surrounding the beachside city from every angle, The Gold Coast simply exudes luxury.

CoreLogic data shows that apartments in the Gold Coast have risen in value by an incredible 26% which is no surprise considering the location and quality on offer. These four Gold Coast penthouses, as chosen by our Editor, are raising the bar in luxury living.

Glasshouse, Burleigh Heads

Glasshouse in Burleigh Heads exudes elegance and opulence - challenging almost every aspect of luxury developments and is everything you would expect of the term 'hyper-luxury'. This expansive home in the sky rivals the size of most houses and have been designed to create an immersive ocean-front experience.

As its name suggests, the penthouse is framed by fluted glass walls that create sightlines towards the horizon, inviting the natural beauty of Burleigh Heads inside. Inside, fittings, fixtures and appliances lists like a who's-who of the most prestigious suppliers, including Gessi tapware, Porcelanosa tiles, Wolf appliances, and custom handblown lights by SOKTAS. And did we mention the jaw-dropping rooftop?

Andrew Malouf, Director of Spyre Group, says, "Glasshouse provides the exclusivity of only three large house-sized apartments positioned on the most perfectly elevated beachfront address on Australia's eastern seaboard. Facing north from a rich basalt outcrop while the world's best surf reserve rolls in toward your doorstep."

The team behind Glasshouse Burleigh has carefully sourced and cultivated the world's finest natural materials to ensure a new standard of unparalleled luxury on Burleigh Hill. "Just one of the unique elements of the project is the sculptural stonework - the large scale marble forms made from Fior Di Bosco Italian marble that grace the kitchen islands and remarkable bathroom vanities is something truly unique to Glasshouse. Each piece is hewn by hand and inspired by the ancient rocky outcrops of the surrounding Burleigh headland."

Awaken, Rainbow Bay

The Awaken penthouse in Rainbow Bay has indeed turned heads - already selling its ultra-luxe two-storey panoramic vista penthouse for an eye-watering $8.15 million. This marks one of the highest sales recorded for an apartment, villa or unit south of Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast. The new owner - an American purchaser looking to relocate to Rainbow Bay - will be living in one of the most premium penthouses in the area.

Jayde Pezet, Managing Director of Pezet Matheson, says, "From the finer elements of the building's external facade to the inclusion of unique natural stone and timber detailing, Cottee Parker has produced a one-of-a-kind building on an unrepeatable site."

"Purchasers had the opportunity to customise the one per floor residences and consult with some of the country's most experienced and sought after interior designers and architects."

Awaken will also be home to one of the largest artworks ever commissioned for a private building in Australia. The bespoke piece will cover the building's northern facade, soaring 11 levels and over 200sqm. Pezet explains, "Lindy Lee's backlit public artwork is a testament to the developer's overarching goal of delivering one of the world's most luxurious but liveable buildings."

Project marketer Andrew Erwin says that "I was in awe of the project from day one", describing the property's most luxurious elements as being the "uninterrupted views of Main Beach, Southport Yacht Club Marina and the split master plan. Every owner has customised their entire kitchen and butler's pantry and other elements of the generous 388sqm full-floor layouts."

There's also a wellness studio, on-site steam room, virtual golf room, 24-metre lap pool, barbecue and dining area and pet grooming space. With ocean views that capture the glorious Gold Coast sunrise, this penthouse is the epitome of luxury.

Chevron One on Chevron Island has taken ocean-side architecture to a whole new level. From the penthouse, residents are gifted with a view of the ocean, the iconic Surfers Paradise skyline, the Nerang River and the hinterland.

The penthouse at Chevron One is expected to be one of the biggest ever built in Queensland, sprawling more than 1,700sqm - 1,244sqm internal, and a further 506sqm under roof. This expansive apartment will be the largest penthouse on the Gold Coast and the most expensive at $25 million.

Spanning two floors, this penthouse offers five spectacular bedrooms, all with ensuites, eight bathrooms and parking for eight cars at the basement level; this is top-tier luxury. The interiors are appointed with the most premium material palette, including Eternal Calcatta Gold benchtops, Embelton luxury oak floors, Sub-Zero wine fridge, EcoSmart built-in fireplaces, and brushed platinum tapware.

Considering all this, it's no wonder Bensons Property Group chairman Elias Jreissati has already reserved the home for himself.

Although this beautiful penthouse is not on the market, a stunning sub-penthouse that has recently been re-designed is available for $15 million. With four bedrooms, a study, and three distinct outdoor areas that capture magnificent views of the Gold Coast and beyond, this luxury residence is truly a sight to behold.
