In designing Felton & Grimwade, developers JT Rosslyn and CHT Architects have kept the facade of the original building and seamlessly integrated it within the industrial architecture of West Melbourne, whilst the luxury interiors represent plans to grow the suburb into one of Melbourne’s most distinct urban neighbourhoods. West Melbourne has seen rapid population growth over the past 5 years and is set to see a growth rate of 5.8% by 2031, making Felton & Grimwade an ideal investment.

A pillar of Melbourne history

Felton & Grimwade is located at 101-107 Rosslyn Street, an iconic former warehouse that has been home to many businesses over the years. Most iconically though, Felton, Grimwade & Co. found its home at 101-107 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne in 1942 as it increased its capacity to aid the war effort during World War II.

Felton, Grimwade & Co. was founded in 1902, as Alfred Felton and Frederick Grimwade began their journey as wholesale druggists. After just three years of business, they had built a factory on Flinders Street and a 3-storey warehouse on Flinders Lane. In the same year, they began selling what was Australia’s first true export, Eucalyptus Oil.

As the building now transforms into Felton & Grimwade, a series of 30 boutique residences across seven levels, CHT architects have ensured that the history of the site is imbued within the architectural design.

Modern, light-filled interiors

Whilst the external architectural design embraces the site's roots as a piece of Melbourne history, the interiors reflect the contemporary style of modern day West Melbourne. Featuring meticulously designed functional kitchens and sleek bathrooms, these residences are made for living a life of seamless convenience. Each residence will also feature a light-filled master bedroom that adapts to your lifestyle and ensures a relaxing day to day experience. Living areas act as the ideal vantage point to experience views of Melbourne’s city as you relax, with generous windows featured all throughout the home. These light-filled homes will be a truly tranquil inner-city escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

A suburb with strong potential for growth

With its rich history as an industrial hub, West Melbourne is quickly transforming into a genuine city-fringe neighbourhood. The West Melbourne Structure Plan aims to further develop the area. The character and heritage of local buildings will be maintained, whilst Spencer Street will transform into a new high street precinct. A proposed extended tram network and metro tunnel will improve the already plentiful public transport options.

Felton & Grimwade is just a short stroll from a number of inner-city conveniences. Flagstaff Gardens acts as a tranquil, inner-city oasis where you can enjoy nature and sunshine. The Queen Victoria Market is also just a stone’s throw from your front door, meaning you can enjoy fresh produce and unique culinary delights every day of the week. With the Queen Victoria Markets currently undergoing a $250 million dollar redevelopment, the atmosphere and offerings at this iconic Melbourne institution are only set to improve in the coming years.

Conveniently located where the city and the suburbs meet, Felton & Grimwade is an example of how historic buildings can be transformed into residences that simultaneously honour history and exude modern luxury in every sense.
