AT A GLANCE:

  • Developer: Stockland
  • Builder: Northerly
  • Architect: Plus Studio
  • Address: 23 Naylor St, Beaconsfield, WA 6162
  • Estimated Completion Date: Mid-2027 for Banksia; End of 2026 for Stages 1 and 2

Construction is well underway on the Banksia collection at Nara, Stockland’s all-electric townhome community in Perth’s Beaconsfield. That means buyers no longer have to rely on a floorplan to picture it.

Following the release of Stages 1 and 2, set to be move-in ready by the end of the year, Banksia presents a limited release of three-bedroom, park-facing homes, combining contemporary architecture, green title ownership, and all-electric living in one of Perth’s most established coastal suburbs.

Guided site inspections are now available for anyone who wants to see the layout, positioning, and outlook before the first homes are complete in mid-2027.

Living upstairs, where the light is

Banksia flips the traditional townhouse layout. The kitchen, dining, and living area sits on the upper level and opens to a private balcony overlooking the park.

“When we were designing Banksia, we spent a lot of time thinking about how people actually want to live,” said Harpreet Kaler, development manager at Stockland Nara.

“The upper-level kitchen, dining, and living space takes advantage of the park outlook, natural light, and coastal breeze, creating a space that feels open, connected, and much larger than its footprint might suggest.”

Downstairs, the main bedroom is positioned away from the home’s living areas, complete with a private ensuite and built-in robe. Upstairs, two additional bedrooms are serviced by a central bathroom, offering flexibility for children, guests, or a home office.

“Positioning the main bedroom on the ground floor creates a quieter, more private retreat from the main living areas,” Harpreet said.

“The split-level layout also gives the home a great sense of flexibility, with spaces that can adapt to different stages of life.”

A secure garage, integrated storage, and a landscaped front garden and rear courtyard with reticulation complete the home.

Designed to keep running costs down

Along with a thoughtful design, the team has ensured the homes are future-proofed, with every Banksia residence all-electric. Each comes with an 8.8kW solar system, a 20.1kWh battery, induction cooking, heat pump hot water, and double-glazed windows. An app-based smart home system controls lighting, climate, and the garage, and reverse-cycle ducted air conditioning runs to the living areas and all bedrooms.

According to Stockland, buyers are increasingly looking beyond location and lifestyle, placing greater value on homes that offer lower running costs and long-term efficiency.

“Features like solar, battery storage, and all-electric appliances aren’t viewed as nice-to-haves anymore,” Harpreet said.

“As the shift toward all-electric living gathers momentum, more buyers are looking for homes that can help them manage their energy use and future household costs.”

Banksia homes are also green title. Owners hold their land outright, with no strata fees and no shared common areas to manage, offering a level of ownership more commonly associated with a standalone home than an apartment.

A community filling up

Enquiry at Nara has remained strong since the release of Stage 3, with Stages 1 and 2 now more than 90% sold. The first homes are due for completion by the end of 2026, and an estimated 90 residents are expected to be living in the community by year’s end.

Much of the appeal is owning a home in an established coastal suburb where a lot of daily life can happen on foot. South Beach is 900 metres away and Clontarf Hill Reserve is 100 metres. The South Fremantle Marketplace, with Woolworths and Aldi, is 300 metres from home, and Fremantle Train Station is 1.3 kilometres.

The neighbourhood around Nara keeps getting better, too. Ripple Brewing, a neighbourhood brewery and taproom, is 500 metres from home. The redevelopment of the former Beaconsfield TAFE site into Lefroy will bring a new neighbourhood centre with shops, cafés, and services. A short drive away, the redevelopment of Little Creatures Brewery is adding to Fremantle’s standing as one of Perth’s most compelling coastal destinations.
