WINIM announced the launch of its Parnell House Penthouses in Newcastle this month - a development unlike anything the city has seen.

With the ocean on one side and Newcastle’s city centre on the other, the twin $10m to $14m penthouses offer coastal living at its finest alongside a 46-room luxury hotel.

Designed by SDA Architects and MXM Design, the twin penthouses – Sand and Dune – occupy the entire rooftop of the luxury boutique hotel destination, Parnell House. Both represent a new era in Newcastle’s standing as a global destination.

Effortlessly blending hotel, retail, and residential, Parnell House will reside within a celebrated heritage building, artfully re-imagined. Alongside the luxury accommodation is a café, bar, restaurant, and wellness spa.

Leading hospitality and management company EVT will operate the luxury hotel with its strong local market knowledge and elevated customer service. Centred around a design response tailored to the local Newcastle market, EVT will bring a bespoke, luxury experience to Parnell House guests.

EVT currently manages 80 hotels and 12,000 rooms across Asia Pacific, with brands such as QT, Rydges, Atura, LyLo, and the Independent Collection by EVT. Parnell House will form part of the Independent Collection by EVT, joining 19 other hotels in this portfolio across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

According to a March report by Core Logic, high-end home prices have been on the rise in Newcastle since the pandemic. The recent sale of a string of multi-million dollar properties over the past 12 months, including a city penthouse apartment for $8.5 million, indicates Newcastle is fast becoming a desirable destination for those who expect the very best in life.

The rise in high-end properties accompanies broader economic and regional growth, including population, commerce, education, and infrastructure investments. The city’s population grew by 0.93% between 2023 and 2024, buoyed by Newcastle University’s expansion, the reopening of the Royal Newcastle Private Hospital following a $1 billion investment, and the expansion and upgrade of Newcastle Airport.

Known for its stunning coastline, vibrant cultural scene, and friendly community, Newcastle is now considered one of the country’s most liveable cities. It offers a unique blend of urban living and natural beauty and an enviable balance between work and leisure, making it a magnet for those seeking a big-town feel with a small-town heart.

High-end buyers moving into the city are a mix of Sydneysiders, Melburnians, and Hunter Valley locals, drawn by its mix of natural beauty, community atmosphere, career opportunities, and cultural activities.

Newcastle is also well-connected locally and nationally, with a compact city that’s easy to navigate and good public transport, making it convenient for residents to commute and explore. WINIM’s Parnell House penthouses pay homage to the barefoot nostalgia of Newcastle’s past while setting a new benchmark for the future.

Abundant light, organic curves, and natural materials encourage a connection with the elements. High-end finishes and hand-crafted statement pieces further elevate these homes to a new level of residential perfection.

Inspired by the elevated ocean views stretching to the horizon and 360-degree views of the city, a choice of gentle green or pink accents creates a sanctuary of calm, with striking stone the hero throughout kitchens and bathrooms.

Hand-blown glass pendants and circular skylights bring abundant light. The soft curves of textured paint walls bring texture throughout, while custom joinery ensures everything has a place.

The decadent master suite provides space and seclusion, the perfect retreat at the end of each day. Luxurious touches include a private dressing room and an elevated stone bathtub with hand-carved steps.

Each residence also features an expansive entertaining space made to celebrate indoor-outdoor living, with a covered outdoor kitchen, dining terrace, and sun deck leading to a private plunge pool nestled in a private courtyard for the ultimate indulgence.

Residents will enjoy resort-style services from Parnell House, including five-star dining without leaving home, room service, hotel concierge, and cleaning services.

Moments from pristine beaches and minutes to the laid-back city vibe of Newcastle East, WINIM’s Parnell House Penthouses will redefine beachside luxe. Construction begins in August 2024, with completion expected in Q3 2025.
