Gold Coast downsizers seeking an alternative to high-rise apartments have turned to luxury townhomes for beachside living with extra space and a more traditional surf village vibe. Construction has been completed on a collection of exclusive villas in Tugun that perfectly represent this new style of coastal living, and buyers are stepping up.
The Eden Collection consists of three and four bedroom townhomes offering a unique northern frontage to lush parklands and just a short walk to the beach. Each townhome features multiple living areas, polished concrete floors, premium stone benchtops and luxury appliances with generous outdoor areas and extensive green landscaping.
Remaining homes are priced from around $2.35 million. CBRE Residential Senior Director, Nicholas Clydsdale, said despite the current housing crisis and focus on apartment living, luxury townhouse projects were emerging as preferred style of
living for some downsizers.
Mr Clydsdale said the southern Gold Coast in particular was experiencing a population boom from downsizers wanting a traditional beach lifestyle with a more laid-back atmosphere than the northern suburbs.
“The lifestyle is oriented around the naturally beautiful coastal geography that defines the area. It still maintains its surf village feel which is a different vibe to living more centrally on the Gold Coast,” he said.
Jon Quayle, director of The Eden Collection developer Chapter Two, said the homes were perfectly tailored for downsizers transitioning from a traditional suburban house to low maintenance living.
“With plenty of space and simple yet refined interiors, The Eden Collection delivers a boutique lifestyle alternative to large unit complexes in a location that is ideal for more mature residents,” he said.
After more than 40 years in Palm Beach, downsizer couple Mick and Karen Havenaar are about to move into their new home at The Eden Collection.
“We have only owned houses, so this will be our very first time living in a townhouse,” said Mick.
“We were looking to downsize but still be close to the beach and The Eden Collection will provide us with an amazing new lifestyle with all the modern amenities,” he said.
Mick and Karen will be relocating to The Eden Collection in February and are looking forward to the “old school’ lifestyle that the Gold Coast previously provided them.
“The appeal has definitely been the location and the laid-back lifestyle Tugun offers,” said Mick.
“For 40 plus years we have lived in Palm Beach. Tugun is what Palmy used to be. It still has everything at your fingertips but it’s that relaxed, beach lifestyle we want,” he said.
