Today is International Dog Day! And this year, Melbourne is giving pooches everywhere something extra to wag about. Dogs Victoria has just unveiled a $12 million redevelopment of KCC Park in Skye, set to become the largest dedicated dog facility in the Southern Hemisphere when it opens in early 2027.

Located about 35 km southeast of the Melbourne CBD, the 30-hectare park will be home to six off-lead zones for every size and temperament, a five-kilometre walking track, a lake for the paddle-inclined, grooming, dog sports, and even a doggy daycare.

It’s the kind of news that gets us thinking: if Melbourne is going all in on dog infrastructure, it’s the perfect excuse to round up some of the best pet-friendly new homes on the market right now.

Whether it’s a purpose-built dog wash bay or an overall pet-friendly building design, these seven developments across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland prove apartment living and dog ownership can be a very good match.

Kooyongkoot, Hawthorn

Kooyongkoot pairs a genuinely impressive wellness suite (sauna, cold therapy, even a golf simulator) with dedicated pet and car wash facilities, so your dog can get the five-star treatment right alongside you.

With parklands within walking distance, all members of the family are catered to here.

The Dacre Building, Abbotsford

Moments from the Yarra River and Victoria Park, The Dacre Building comes with its own dog wash facilities alongside a luxury bathhouse retreat and a landscaped outdoor BBQ courtyard, making it easy to see why this boutique DKO-designed collection is turning heads.

With a sustainable, all-electric design, and a location moments from the energy of Abbotsford, Collingwood, and Fitzroy, The Dacre Building combines the best in Melbourne living into this pet-friendly address.

Scotch Hill Gardens, Hawthorn

The Woodburn at Scotch Hill Gardens comes with a dog wash and bicycle workshop tucked alongside The Bath House, its resort-style wellness offering of vitality pools, a sauna, and a salt room. Muddy paws after a walk along the Yarra? Sorted.

Plus, the upcoming revitalisation of the nearby Bill Street Retail Village will place lifestyle essentials and everyday luxuries within easy walking distance.

All with EV-car ready parking spaces, shared electric bikes, and car service built in, moments from St Leonards Station and the Crows Nest Metro.
