The design industry is currently asking the question - ‘who will be the architect for Sydney’s most expensive new apartment?
Chinese developer, Dalian Wanda, recently scooped a prestigious and highly sought after waterfront address and has the plans to to develop apartments and a 5 star hotel as well.
Purchased by Gold Fields at 1 Alfred Street, Circular Quay, for $425m from the Blackstone group. They had previously decided and planned to bulldoze the 1960s buildings that are currently in place - in order to make room for two new apartment buildings.
Previously, Kerry Hill Architects were to be the architects to design the apartment complex - however, since adding Gold Fields to their portfolio, Dalian Wanda has preferred to get new in-house designs in to push this development to become the most expensive apartments in Sydney.
Wanda Group has recognised the iconic location, and intends to create a mixed-use development ,including a 5-star hotel, luxury residential and retail. We look forward to creating a new Sydney landmark,” Wanda Group told The Australian.
The location itself will sell itself, with some of Australia’s most iconic views being seen from these proposed apartments.
Demolition is proposed to occur in 2017, with the 3602sqm development site to begin construction soon after.
