AT A GLANCE:

  • Developer: Fortis
  • Builder: BINAH
  • Address: 12 Kyabra St, Newstead, QLD 4006
  • No. of Residences: 65
  • Estimated Completion Date: Q4 2028

Fortis has arrived in Newstead with Crest & Walker, a boutique collection of 65 residences rising from the crest of Kyabra Street, one of the suburb’s highest residential addresses. Positioned between the iconic James Street and the energy of Gasworks Plaza, it’s a home built for people who have already done the downsizing math and simply want more room to live well.

“We’ve always known this site here at Kyabra St had the potential to become something special, and we wanted to create a building that would genuinely contribute to its story,” said Dan Boman, general manager of QLD at Fortis.

Residences built for owner-occupiers

Every floor plate here is boutique by design. From Level 2 to 10, each level holds just four residences of two-bedroom, two-bathroom arrangements with a single car space, sized from around 100 sqm total living. These homes include a generous wintergarden facing Stratton Street that extends the living zone outdoors year-round.

From Level 11, the floorplans change: three residences per level rather than four, made up of two two-bedroom homes and one half-floor, three-bedroom residence with a flexible multipurpose room and two car spaces. At the top of the building, Level 20 is dedicated entirely to two of these half-floor three-bedroom homes. At 213 sqm total living, they’re a rare find in Newstead.

“Every residence at Crest & Walker is a corner unit with only four apartments per floor and reducing to three apartments per floor from Level 11,” said Brett Jackson, sales director at Slaite Projects.

“That equates to good cross-flow ventilation and lots of natural light throughout.

“It’s a level of exclusivity that’s rarely seen in Newstead.”

Architecturally designed by award-winning Bureau^Proberts, interiors lean into a soft, tonal material palette with engineered stone benchtops in the two-bedroom homes, natural stone in the three-bedrooms, and engineered timber flooring throughout, with double-glazed windows tuned for acoustic and thermal comfort in each.

A rooftop built for tranquility, not spectacle

Rather than an oversized entertainment deck, the rooftop at Crest & Walker is a restrained wellness retreat. Residents will be a lift ride away from a heated pool, sauna and steam room, and dining and BBQ areas landscaped by Arcadia.

This space was designed as an extension of the home itself, with the neighbourhood’s own cafés, gyms, and studios picking up where the amenity leaves off.

A Newstead address, both sides covered

Crest & Walker sits within walking distance of Gasworks Plaza and James Street. This means residents will have Brisbane’s foremost dining, retail, and lifestyle strip on one side and some of the city’s most loved sites on the other, including the Brisbane Riverwalk, Howard Smith Wharves, and Newstead Park.

Residents are also close to Fortitude Valley with its nightlife, Teneriffe and its riverside amenity, and the CBD, plus a run of wellness studios including TotalFusion and TH7 Body Labs.
