Childhood friends Don O’Rorke, CEO and Chairman of Consolidated Properties Group, and Scott Hutchinson, Chairman of Hutchinson Builders, have signed $1 billion in construction contracts across three Brisbane developments in 30 days.

This will provide certainty for 420 new homes and a major commercial development.

The contracts cover Castile at Newstead, Gloriette at Yeerongpilly Green and 949 Ann Street in Fortitude Valley, with the announcement coinciding with the sod turning at Castile.

The long-time childhood friends are working together to deliver Castile at Newstead, Gloriette at Yeerongpilly Green and 949 Ann Street in Fortitude Valley.

Don O’Rorke said the agreements gave buyers, financiers and government complete confidence in the delivery of the developments.

“Scott and I have known each other for decades," Don said.

"There’s a lot of trust there, backed by a long history of our businesses working together.

“We’re local, we’re here for the long term, and we have the financial backing and construction experience to get these projects built."

O’Rorke said the partnership gives buyers, financiers and government complete confidence in the delivery of the developments.

“For buyers, it means knowing who will build their home and that a construction contract is in place," Don said.

"For financiers, Brisbane City Council and the State and Federal Governments, it’s an important step towards delivering more housing.

“It also means work for subcontractors, with the financial capacity behind the projects to make sure they get paid.”

Scott Hutchinson said the contracts gave Hutchinson Builders and its subcontractors a substantial pipeline of work.

“Don and I understand how each other works, and we know what it takes to deliver projects of this scale,” Scott said.

“Having these contracts signed allows us to plan our teams, engage subcontractors and get on with construction.

“For buyers at Castile and Gloriette, it’s a commitment from both of our businesses to deliver their homes.”

The announcement coincides with the sod turning at Castile, CPG’s residential development on Newstead’s last remaining absolute riverfront development site, a rarity in Brisbane.

Located at 47 Skyring Terrace, Castile will deliver 229 luxury apartments across a 25-storey tower and 12 residences in a boutique six-storey riverfront building.

Designed by award winning architects Woods Bagot, the project has secured 25 pre-sales in its pre-launch.

Gloriette will deliver a further 181 apartments within the Yeerongpilly Green precinct, bringing the combined housing supply across the two projects to 420 homes.
