Breese Street, by Milieu, is a collection of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments designed by DKO Architecture and local Brunswick Breathe Architecture.
Inspired by other local and environmentally friendly projects, Breese Street will advocate sustainable living. Fossil fuel-free, with a 7.5-star sustainability rating and a maximum of five neighbours per floor, it’s a building designed for a daily life in natural synergy with our environment. Breese Street’s residents will form a genuine community, one where neighbours connect – this time not over the fence, but while tending veggies on the rooftop. We’re aiming to get back to the basics — conversation and cooperation in future-focused, proactive communal spaces.
The development plans include community feedback via Milieu’s Liveability Survey, which has informed some of the design signatures. Apartment designs now feature pragmatic layouts and a communal rooftop garden, while the architecture draws on Brunswick’s local context and contemporary village character to inform the building anatomy and materiality.
Breese Street has been conceptualised with sustainability at its core. This philosophy extends to the interior finishes of each apartment — ranging from a palette of recycled timber flooring, brick and terrazzo tiles to the addition of induction cooktops in lieu of gas. Upon construction, Breese Street by Milieu will join leading projects to set a global standard for sustainable, multi-residential living.
